Consequences of stalking
What are possible consequences?
Even if stalking takes place via digital means, it still has massive and very real consequences for those affected.
Withdrawal from the digital world and the social environment
Stalking can end up stopping you from using social media and gradually withdrawing more and more: first from the internet and then increasingly from friends and family.
Physical and psychological consequences
Stalking can have physical and psychological consequences. Anxiety, panic attacks and depression can occur or be fostered by stalking.
Omnipresent threat
Cyberstalking can affect every area of your life. The threat and the sense of fear are potentially everywhere: in your mailbox, at work, on your smartphone, wherever you communicate with others. It might feel like there is nowhere safe to retreat to. This often feels hopeless and as if there is no way to do something about it.

But: There are ways and strategies to take action against stalking!
It is important not to go it alone. Talk to friends and other people you trust about what is happening to you. Find out how you can defend yourself on a technical level. Seek support from a specialist counselling centre in your area.
