Finding Bluetooth trackers

Small trackers are available on the market, which allow users to determine their precise location via Bluetooth. Examples of such trackers are Apple's AirTag, Tile by Life360 and Samsung Smart Tag. The owner can locate the trackers using an app. These trackers are sometimes misused by stalkers, and are difficult to find because they are so small.

There are apps that can be used to find Bluetooth trackers. Android and Apple have built-in functions for this purpose. You can find them in the settings via the search function. The AirGuard app is also recommended. You can install AirGuard on your smartphone and leave it running in the background for a while. You should subsequently receive alerts if a Bluetooth tracker is following you. Depending on when the app sounds the alarm, you will have an indication of where the tracker might be hidden. Does it always sound when you are carrying a certain bag? Or when you're driving your car? Then it's time to search.

Sometimes it's not clear how someone always knows where you are. A Bluetooth tracker could be behind it, or perhaps an app someone has secretly installed on your mobile phone.

You can ask someone you trust to install AirGuard on their own phone, and use it to search for trackers in your home and vehicles. This is safer than installing the app yourself if there is a risk that your smartphone is being monitored.

AirGuard and other apps only find trackers that communicate via Bluetooth! There are also trackers that do not work with Bluetooth but with GPS and internet. These will not be found with AirGuard.
